Breaking Even With Murphy
Or, “Balancing Yin with Yang” as the fish above seem to suggest. (I found the image at GetWallpaper.com – click on image to go there.) Sometimes life can be so excruciating! This past month is one of those times.
First, my significant other (hereafter to be identified as SO), loses time at work for being sick (oh, no).
Then I make some sales (yay!).
Then the car needs a brake job (oh, no!).
Then he gets a raise and I save some money by upgrading our internet service (yay – faster service for less money!).
Now, the car has a new problem and my SO may not be able to get it home without being towed. (oh, no, not again!)
whew!
And, people wonder why I have become so cynical. These are actual events in my life (not my imagination) and to me they seem to be a fair sampling of my normal reality.
I may actually be getting used to it, finally. Or, perhaps I am just shell shocked. I feel so calm right now.

I have my first arts and crafts show coming up tomorrow. I had begun getting ready last week – putting together my display equipment and inventory, etc. I started working on this last week, as I know that Murphy stalks me. Murphy’s Law – A Preponderance of Evidence
Whenever I go through difficulties, I am prone to analyzing my situation to death. I begin to search for philosophical answers. It is a coping mechanism. (Okay, it is probably an obsession.) Forgive me, please. Religion has been of no help to me, and platitudes don’t hold much comfort.
I am tempted to come to the conclusion that Murphy’s Law reigns supreme – “Anything that can go wrong, will, and at the most inopportune time”.

Is luck random or are there patterns? One of the ways of looking at this question would be to look at the odds. What are the odds of taking a die and repeatedly rolling a six? Possible indeed, but not so probable…
