Searching for Meaning and Truth

911: In Plane Site

Just like everyone else, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I learned of the tragedy of 911.  I had just gotten out of bed, fed the cats, gotten my morning cup of coffee and turned on the TV.

What I saw on TV that morning was indeed shocking.  As I watched the coverage that showed President Bush being informed of the second tower being hit, I was even more shocked.  What I saw was that he did not seem surprised.  He seemed to slightly nod his head in acknowledgement and continued to just sit there.

Now, I did not expect our president to “freak out”, but I would expect some flicker of surprise.  I was immediately suspicious.  I tried to write my suspicions off as “my imagination” or “jumping to conclusions”.  However, every time I have watched that clip and looked carefully, I come to the same conclusion as I did that first time.

I have since watched several videos on 911, and as a result, have seen much evidence that at least some part of our government is complicit.

My questions:

Why did they appoint themselves to investigate rather than hire independent investigators?

Why is so much information being suppressed?

Today, I watched 911: In Plane Site – The Directors Cut – Full High Quality Video

Edit: I have tried several times to embed this video, but every time I click “save”, the embed code disappears. So, just click on the link provided and view it on Google.

This is one of the best videos that I have seen on this issue.  They don’t cover all the evidence.  They submit evidence that is easily understood by lay persons like myself.  There is available much evidence that is understandable to people with more technical backgrounds.  You can find it by doing internet searches on keyword “911″.

I encourage anyone reading this to at least view the video and make up you own mind.  Try, if you can, to suspend any previous beliefs you may have and just look at the evidence as if you have never heard the story before.  You can always reclaim your previous beliefs if you so choose.  Then give some thought to the implications.

If the official story of 911 is not true, why did we go to war with Afghanistan and Iraq?  Could there be a different agenda?

What has happened as a result of the official story?  We have been progressively robbed of our civil liberties and indeed robbed of our very Constitution that protects our civil liberties and basic rights.  Why?  What else is in store?

The implications go on and on…

Know Thine Enemy

It is important to know yourself. In fact, I previously talked a little about this in “Know Thyself“. Recently, I have been thinking of another adage – “Know Thine Enemy”. I was reminded of it by all of the controversy over Columbia University having invited the president of Iran to speak there.

It has long been known to military strategists that “knowing your enemy” is just as important as knowing yourself. Read more »

Critical Thinking…Understand What Exactly is Being Said

I recently viewed a video on AlterNet featuring George Carlin – “It’s called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it“. I especially applaud his comments on critical thinking. We, in America, seem to have lost most of our critical thinking skills. These skills are not being taught in schools unless you make it to college and sign up for a course.

One particular aspect to good critical thinking is to understand what is actually being said. Read more »

A Critical Look at The Bible

GodvsBible banner

In my ongoing search for truth, I came across this website (banner link above). The author has written a book analyzing the disparity between what the Christian Bible says, and what our scientific knowledge tells us about our world and universe. It is available to read online, just click on banner link at the top of this post.

I am not finished reading this book myself, but I thought others might want to check it out for themselves. Although, I do not agree abosulutely with everything the author has to say, I do find he makes a lot of sense. (Edit – Sep 2: I should have said…He makes some good points.) Nothing personal, I rarely agree with absolutely everything someone has to say. I am an eternal skeptic. All in all, a thought provoking book. Read more »

Anecdotal Evidence

Excerpt from Wikipedia:

Anecdotal evidence is an informal account of evidence in the form of an anecdote or hearsay. The term is often used in contrast to scientific evidence, such as evidence-based medicine, which are types of formal accounts. Anecdotal evidence is often unscientific because it cannot be investigated using the scientific method. Misuse of anecdotal evidence is a logical fallacy and is sometimes informally referred to as the “person who” fallacy (“I know a person who…”; “I know of a case where…” etc. Compare with hasty generalization). Anecdotal evidence is not necessarily typical; statistical evidence can more accurately determine how typical something is.When used in advertising or promotion of a product, service, or idea, anecdotal evidence is often called a testimonial and is banned in some jurisdictions. The term is also sometimes used in a legal context to describe certain kinds of testimony. Psychologists have found that people are more likely to remember notable examples than typical examples[1].

I understand this to mean that anecdotal evidence does not prove something. I certainly have no argument with that. But does it mean we should dismiss it entirely? Often, I run into discussions where anecdotal evidence is simply discarded as meaningless. Read more »
