Did God Lie?
I use the New International Version of the Bible as it was my grandfather’s Bible, given to me by my grandmother after Grandpa died.

In Genesis, in the story of the Garden of Eden, God tells Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. He told them they would die if they ate from this tree.
Genesis 2:15,16,17
15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” – Bible, New International Version
But, then, they ate of it and did not die. God got mad instead, cursed them, and kicked them out of the garden.
Genesis 3:1-5
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ “
4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
And here seems to be the motive…”For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” I know, everyone believes the serpent is a liar. But, Adam and Eve did not die when they ate of that fruit…and I wonder why God does not want us to know good and evil…would we then see not only what is good and evil in ourselves, but would we then be able to recognize good and evil in others? Why would God not want this, but the serpent would?
Yet another example of hypocrissy in the Old Testament. If we were take the story of Adam and Eve seriously then it seems to translate that God wanted to fill the world with village idiots unable to tell the difference between right and wrong. Surely God would be intelligent enough to know that would be a recipe for total disaster!
I wonder if the serpent was written in as a metaphorical aspect of mankind’s awareness. A way for mankind to blame something other than themselves for disobeying rules and regulations.
I think the serpent represents the force (or memeplex) in opposition to tyranny – the free will and knowledge memeplex. I think that those (priests and kings, etc) in support of tyranny demonized the “serpent” so as to discourage the seeking of knowledge.
Although, it does provide a great scapegoat – for those who believe the “authorities” or the church has a right to tell them what to do, they can disobey and blame it on the devil (serpent).
I for one am proud to claim responsibility for seeking knowledge and disobeying tyrannical edicts. I do not believe that anyone has the right to own me and tell me what to do. The only laws I believe in are those that we as a people agree on. (you know, laws that protect us like laws against murder, theft, etc.)
Edicts that tell us to keep our mouths shut and do what we are told are tyrannical and in my opinion, evil. Therefore, I do not feel I am doing wrong in seeking knowledge and do not need a scapegoat…For me, the serpent was a friend to man in the garden…The serpent was a threat only to “God”.
Hi, i find it hard to understand that so many feel they must have an answer to a question on a subject that will not be understood, i think that it is in acceptance of that, that i now see and understand as much as is necessary to know. i also firmly beleive, of all that is said of Gods words, are of Gods world. like seeing the times table for the first time with no understanding of it, then at a stage, so far down the track, maybe like 7×11=77 the penny drops and gives berth to an understanding and all before now make sence.it is for that reason that i read and understand, in what could be disscribed as an un-prescribed way.Gen 3: 14 that serpent that was evicted from the Garden, that will roll on it’s belly eating the dust of the earth till the end of time, (better had) since it does exactly has that river will do, does’nt it ?? Gen 2:4 God did not cause it to rain, but it did, like a fallen angel. The trees mountains and we, are part of Gods world one LIKE unto the son of man, Rev 1:13 was not, is not, and never was, a man.
It is a snow capped mountain with it’s peak above the clouds it is a place on earth, a geographicle possition,at a very specific time, a place that things will be read. WOW, that should be interesting, so for all those who may fear, maybe one should, the Bible is True accurate & precise.
with a healthy respect and love of God
Kind regards Mel
The roots of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are planted deep into the beginning of time when Lucifer decided to puff himself up and try to become God.
God created angels before he created humans. Some of the angels rebelled against God under the leadership of an arch angel named Lucifer, who was in charge of music and worship. Lucifer wanted to be God, take the place of God, and compete with God. Lucifer considered himself to have knowledge greater than God. Lucifer introduced evil. Before “evil” was introduced there was only “good”. Hence: We now have the knowledge of good and evil.
Lucifer’s name is also called Satin, the serpent, a dragon, and a few other terms found in the Bible. As a consequence of his rebellion against God, Satan introduced Death. Death is a spiritual separation from God for eternity. Before death was introduced, there was no choice of it, LIFE was the plan for all of us, we didn’t have Life, it was our inheritance.
Along with Satin, there were angels that followed Satan’s lordship. The angels that followed Satan also rebelled against God, therefore introducing CHOICE. They chose to follow Satan, (death) instead of following God, (life).
God then created humans. He created humans in his own image. Compared to Angels, we were created to fellowship ( communicate) with God, receive His love, and voluntarily love and worship Him. He actually wants to talk with us and share His kingdom and all that comes with it. He gave it all to us. He wants us to see him as our spiritual Father as He sees us as His children. Unfortunately, death, the knowledge of good and evil, and an option of choice exist because of the fall of Lucifer.
Adam and Eve were the first humans. You know the story. Now comes the part where God tells them about the trees in the garden. He tells them all about the tree of life. He said that they could eat all they wanted from the tree of life. Unfortunately, He has to tell Adam about the tree of knowledge of good and evil (because it exists now) and he warns Adam of what will happen (the consequence) if he partakes of it, because he has to be made aware of the danger (just as a loving father forbids his child to touch a burning stove have to know about and it is dangerous, the child has to be made aware of it and be warned not to touch it or he will get burned).
Now Adam and Eve are faced with trusting God, and believe that He is telling them the truth. Just like the innocent child that is faced with trusting that his dad is telling him the truth about the hot stove.
You know what happens next.
(Note: I think the Adam didn’t communicate with Eve very well and didn’t tell her everything that God told him, (bad communication still exists today between husbands and wives).
Today God is still asking us to trust Him and choose life. Just as in the Garden of Eden. God gave Adam and Eve a choice to choose the fruit of the tree of life, and gave them fair warning about choosing the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, we are now faced with DOUBTING GOD. They didn’t trust God, by not taking Him at His Word (Roma). They doubted His Word (Roma). He warned them of the consequences. He didn’t make up the consequence of death, Satin is the one who put into motion the consequence of death and hell. Hell only exists because of Satin. Hell was made for Satin, his followers, and demons. That’s what is wrapped up in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, DEATH: Natural and spiritual death.
But there’s more. There is HOPE! The tree of life still exists today. We still have a chance to choose to partake of it. A chance to choose life.
The reason that God sent Adam and Eve away from the garden is so they wouldn’t partake of the tree of life, Also, because the curse, or consequence was set into motion. If they would have taken of the tree of life at that time, death would be a permanent eternal fixture to life. The wages of sin is death, shedding of blood. Life would go on without the hope of eternal life with God. Death could not be undone if they were to eat of the fruit of life.
Adam and Eve used their free will to doubt God. Because of them we now know what death is. They didn’t know what death was, it was not even a concept they could comprehend. They experienced separation from God, Life, for eternity. Bodily and spiritual death.
Because the tree of life still exists, we have the hope of life that is eternal, spiritual. Our bodies will die because of Adam and Eve but our spiritual lives have a chance to live eternally.
The second Adam was born. Christmas is approaching us and we celebrate His birth.
The wages of sin is death. (Sin = disobeying God). The second Adam experienced death, once and for all. He took our place in death. His body died but His Spirit, the same Spirit that unites us with God and is eternal, came back to life in a new body. Referred to as the Body of God, He can live in each and all of us. Our human bodies will die (thanks to the first Adam) but our united spirit with God will live eternally with new body (Thanks to the second Adam, Jesus).
The cross is the tree of Life. It took death on that tree for us to experience new life, eternal life.
It’s all in the Bible. The Bible may have been written by humans but it can only be fully understood by the Spirit of God. There are spiritual messages beyond the words. The people who wrote it didn’t even realize what they were writing, the impact it makes now when read through spiritual interpretation or insight. They didn’t have the Spirit of God in them until after Jesus died. The Spirit of God (referred to as the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost) could not be released to humans until the tree of life was partaken from. Jesus partook of the tree of life by dying on it (wages of sin is death,). He conquered the power of death. We can partake of the fruit of the tree of life now. It’s a free gift, it was bought by Jesus, He paid for it with his blood.
(Before Jesus came to the earth, people killed pure innocent lambs and goats as a sacrifice for sin, (the shedding of innocent blood in death was the accepted atonement.)
I will write more about Jesus later. The Bible is a guide that leads us to Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Living Word Of God that can live in us by His Spirit. He is the Living Word Of God.

Did God Lie?
NO, He didn’t. Never has, nor does he have any plans to. This in it’s self is a very broad subject. The biggest problem here is understanding the scriptures out of context.
Fistly, Adam died. Proof? He lives no longer. His first death was spiritual. He no could no longer fellowship with God as he used to previously. This is seen from the fact he hides from God citing nakedness. The second death is physical. He could not live the eternal life purposed for him.
As for the knowledge of good an evil, this a responsibility man could can not deal with. There lots of debates as to what entails good and or, evil. We would not have this commentary i it were not for the same reasons as this. Adam was given a choice. To submit to God and let HIM guide him, or take charge of his own life. He chose the latter, to his deteriment. The rest is history…
